Commercial Route Development Manager with aviation experience for account management in Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is on an essential journey. The largest Hub in Northern Europe must be rebuilt as we come out of a historic crisis. We need to regain Denmark’s world class international connectivity. We need you to commercially support our airline customers in rebuilding our large route network to Denmark, Europe and intercontinental destinations, for the benefit of millions of passengers.

Do you have aeronautical experience, working commercially with international airlines and route networks? Then you have the profile we are looking for in the Airline Sales department in CPH.

Rebuilding the CPH Hub with a global network of airline routes
Your primary responsibilities will be around reestablishing the large airline route network in CPH, having direct contact and accountability for your own customers. We will achieve that by effective account management of existing airline customers, supporting them to regrow their business, and driving route development of new routes and destination opportunities with new accounts. We work in a very international environment, cooperating with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders, airlines, authorities and interest organizations, where two days are never the same.

As Route Development Manager your key tasks will be:

  • Account management, supporting existing airlines in CPH to maintain their business and further develop and grow
  • Rebuilding the CPH Route Network with airline customers adding routes and operated frequencies
  • Assisting in route development, analyzing and prioritizing route potential planning, building business cases and following through the sales process to the securing of new business
  • Building relationships and networking with airlines under your responsibility
  • Aligning and coordinating CPH efforts and cooperation for the airline customers
  • Ad hoc assignments, and some administrative tasks.

Business acumen with aviation experience
You have a good knowledge of aviation, and experience from the aeronautical industry. You may have a background within Key Account Management and have a proven commercial customer interaction at high organizational level. You speak a Scandinavian language and have excellent written and spoken English skills, with a multi-cultural understanding, accustomed to working in an international context. It will be an advantage if you have previous operations and/or network experience. You have a higher-level business degree education.

It is a requirement to have strong data analytical skills, with the ability to use a multitude of data sources to be able to take informed decisions. You have good presentation and negotiation skills, developed from previous customer interactions.

As a person, you are proactive, have a team-oriented mindset, and you enjoy taking a cooperative and collaborative approach to reach the desired departmental results. As a people-person, networking is natural for you, to build and grow long-term relationships. You have a positive and constructive “can-do” mindset, you are tenacious, and you remain solution-oriented and involved even when facing obstacles and challenges.

High performance team in a very international environment
The department for Airline Sales & Route Development (ALS) is responsible for all commercial activities with airlines in CPH, maintaining and developing the route network and Cargo business from Copenhagen. The team consists of 7 professional and dedicated colleagues, working with a very international scope, so some travel is expected. You will report to the Senior Director of Airline Sales & Route Development. The role is based at the airport in Copenhagen, Denmark.
